Go and look in your window channel. A sponge. A bit of card. A folded towel. Most vans have one. You were right about the fix. You just had nothing made for the job.

It started as a one-night thing. Exposed aire, gusty forecast, and a window clicking a metre from your head. You got up, found something soft, and jammed it in the frame. It worked. So it stayed.

Now it falls out on every bad road and you re-do it before every trip. There is a sponge living permanently in a €60,000 vehicle, and you have stopped noticing.

You didn't want a permanent bodge. You wanted a permanent fix. Nobody sold you one.

You worked out the right fix already

The acrylic windows on most European motorhomes and caravans close on one small plastic handle. It was made to keep the rain out — that's the whole job description. It was never made to press the glass tight. So there is always a millimetre or two of play, and on a gusty night that play is the click you can't unhear.

Stuffing something in the frame works because it takes the play out. That's the correct instinct. The sponge isn't the wrong idea — it's the wrong object.

Why every bodge eventually loses

A sponge compresses and stops holding. A wooden wedge drops on the floor at the first pothole — or out the window, and you never see it again. Tape lets go in the sun and leaves residue on the frame. Foam pads and felt dots soften noise between two panels that touch, and a pane sitting loose in a rubber seal is simply not that.

And all of them share the same flaw: they have to be re-done. Every trip. Forever.

The fix

The same job, made as a part instead of a sponge.

A small precision-printed clip slides over the handle your window already has and holds the glass firmly shut. It grips the handle itself — so there is nothing wedged, and nothing to fall out.

Nothing to re-wedge before every trip — it stays on until you take it off.
Your wedge falls out at 90. This doesn't. It grips, it doesn't sit in a gap.
Comes off with one hand, from inside — no tools, no marks on the frame.
Camperista precision-printed camper window lock for Seitz and Dometic windows

It clips straight onto the Seitz or Dometic handle in about five seconds per window — no tools, no drilling, no adhesive — and lifts off without a mark. Which also makes it the only upgrade a rented or leased van allows.
